New Apple mac—–MacBook Air

We began a series of articles on the Apple computer range, the purpose of it is to show the features of the Mac and try to help you choose the right model to all those who are considering switching to Mac.We conclude the review of Apple’s offering in computers. After reviewing the basic offer on laptops, the MacBook is the turn of the MacBook Pro, the model created by Apple for professionals.13.3 models “announce battery 10 hours and at 15.5 and 17″ between 8 and 9 hours. All 4 GB of RAM mount base.

The latest revision of Apple’s laptops has increased considerably the differences between a MacBook and a MacBook Pro The first is the size of the screen, the Pro model is available in 13.3 “, 15.4″ and 17 ” . In all cases a TFT is mounted illuminated by LEDs. The models of 15.4 “let you choose between a resolution of 1440 × 900 or 1680 × 1050, in the case of 17″ resolution is 1920 × 1200 pixels. Models of 15.4 and 17 give the possibility to choose between glossy or antiglare.

On the other side of the laptop is made of aluminum with the new unibody Apple process that allows for greater rigidity and better finishes the set. The MacBook Pro includes a backlit keyboard and light sensors that respond to ambient light, changing the screen brightness and keyboard illumination according to the amount of light available at the place where we are.Another option are restored models (refurbished) by Apple and sold by the company officially guaranteed.

Internally mounted also distinguished by different Core 2 Duo, Core i7 or Core i5, a Firewire 800, a mounting slot for an SD Card (in the 17 “is changed to a ExpressCard/34), dual graphics card dedicated and integrated with 256 or 512 MB of RAM and Mini DisplayPort connector for monitor. The models of 13.3 “mount a Nvidia GeForce 320M with 256 MB of shared RAM while the 15.4-and 17 mounted the GeForce 330M with 256 or 512 MB dedicated.

All models can expand to 8GB RAM and hard drives up to 500GB or 512GB in SSD. The 17 “model can extend the processor to a Core i7 at 2.66 GHz.It seems clear that if we need power to run software like Aperture or Final Cut Pro in a mobile environment, the choice of the MacBook Pro is needed. What can be more reasonable to choose a program if it will be our only dell inspiron 9300 battery, but if we already have a desktop, and need a laptop to a more sporadic, may be more reasonable to opt for a MacBook.

The location of the latter control may not be the most appropriate. It’s easy to accidentally disable WiFi and probably some inexperienced users do not understand why suddenly does not work your Internet connection. It also includes a small button to turn it off, useful if you do not want to inadvertently move the cursor or if you always use an external mouse. The equipment is sturdy and somewhat heavy for its size. The build quality is fantastic and quiet operation.

We think it’s more accurate to put a button “physical” to this function or do so only from the software. The touchpad has a rectangular shape with a vertical scroll area and as usual control buttons. Dissipates heat very efficiently, without notice areas with particularly high temperatures. Equipment should be subject to considerable strain to hear the fan working. However, titles like Far Cry or HalfLife 2 run very smoothly with medium details.

Technological developments in recent years allows laptops equip some components that offer similar performance to the desktop. The dv4 is no exception and has some components of authentic luxury. As a team we are dealing with has one of the latest processors from Intel Dual Core (T8400 2.26 GHz) and no less than 4 Gbytes of DDR2 RAM (expandable to 8 GB). Running on Windows Vista (as we know, a real “devourer” of RAM) the computer moves with agility and applications have outstanding performance.

The operating system version incorporating our unit is 32 bits and, while recognizing the 4 GB installed correctly (presumably forcing Vista to use an extension PAE), may not offer the same performance with a 64-bit, would cause a hypothetical final drag on team performance. Still, we believe that the biggest problem lies in the fact that many users are still used to Windows XP, but it is inevitable that manufacturers pre-install Windows Vista, since Microsoft stopped offering the ability to install XP in June .

The storage section is covered with a SATA drive of 320 GB capacity at 5,400 rpm. The HP Protect-Smart technology has accelerometers that detect sudden movement of equipment and are able to minimize the risk of data loss. The HP Pavilion dv4 has a good assortment of ports: 2 USB 2.0 and has an eSATA port that doubles as additional USB. acer aspire one battery also includes a VGA output, one HDMI and an Ethernet connection (our unit had no modem, but is available as an option)

Apple’s suppliers were discovered to be in violation of rules

There was a second repeat offender, but Apple claims to be “correcting” its practices.Point taken, but that seems to be a decidedly commercial and first-world criterion. In the developing world, the smartphone is the PC for most people who can afford one, and, for the vast majority, will be for the foreseeable future. While IDC may be just categorizing for the sake of market analysis, that is, to me, still kind of arbitrary.Netbooks have been counted as PCs from the beginning.

iPads closely match netbooks in functionality. Thus it is only fair to include iPads in any PC count. It would also be interesting to show the $1000+ PC market share chart. Depending on country, Apple has between 10 to 90% market share of that.PED, the chart actually has a couple issues: one, the lines between “3Q11″ and “3Q11 w/iPad” shouldn’t be contiguous. But the Metro interface is designed for multitouch, while PCs and the software that runs on them are designed for keyboard and mouse.

A better chart would have each line split at “2Q11″ to without iPad and a dashed line to with iPad. Two, the best chart would be to include tablet sales going back in time, as obviously, iPads didn’t just appear in Q3 2011. Microsoft’s decision to make Windows 8 for use on both desktop PC computers and tablets (instead of 2 separate operating systems) will be their downfall. On the PC side, Windows 8 is really just Windows 7 with a Metro interface glued onto the front.

It only matters how many devices run whatever if you are some sad fan boy that thinks technology is a religion. Grow up millions of people every day use Android and really enjoy the experience.Buy what you want to buy and use what you want to use, keep your snobbery for the country club. Block out the last set of data points and the lines leading to them and look at the chart. Then, you can see the underlying trend: HP, Acer and Dell are declining; Apple and Lenovo are climbing.

The 4Q CY11 data PED linked to in an earlier article, “Mac sales zigged as Windows PC sales sagged in Q4,” shows that it got even “worse” for HP and Acer, while Dell climbed a bit and Lenovo.Netbooks have been counted as PCs from the beginning. iPads closely match netbooks in functionality. Thus it is only fair to include iPads in any PC count. You probably see where I’m going here. The fact of the matter is, we probably wouldn’t be having this discussion if someone was saying, “we need to consider smartphones as PCs”

T-Mobile’s entire strategy is gone

They should jump in with Google, it would save their customers and bring them the best devices and technology the company has to offer through Motorola and its partnerships with device manufactures. If would free Google from allowing bloatware on their devices and give them an exclusive revenue stream through the mobile ads they push to all android phones. Any score above 2,500 indicates a highly concentrated market, and any increase of more than 200 points clearly enhances market power, according to federal guidelines.

Taking into account the whole U.S. market, a combination of AT&T and T-Mobile would have increased the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI), a widely accepted measure of market concentration, to 3,216 from 2,848, according to a Bloomberg analysis.According to the report “Corporate Taxpayers & Corporate Tax Dodgers 2008-10,” two of the 25 companies with the largest total tax subsidies were AT&T at #2 ($14.5 billion) and Verizon at #3 ($12.3 billion).

Consumers are finally noticing that AT&T and Verizon = The Most Expensive Wireless Plans in America.“It’s only a slight overstatement to say that if they weren’t going to block this one, the Justice Department might as well just throw the antitrust guidelines out the window,” said Herbert Hovenkamp, professor of law at the University of Iowa, who is considered by many to be the dean of American antitrust law. “This merger clearly seems to violate them.”

If AT&T couldn’t get regulatory approval to buy T-Mobile, there’s no chance its even larger rival Verizon would be able to scoop it up. This is how AT&T and Verizon fashion themselves as brilliant … with their political use of money. We know where Verizon and AT&T (both in the top 5 for corporate lobbying) get all that money to run commercials 24×7, pay out huge “fat cat” executive bonuses and hire armies of lawyers and lobbyists to try to push the U.S. market into a wireless industry duopoly — the American consumer.

Also, there were 30 corporations that paid less than nothing in aggregate federal income taxes over the same period. These 30 companies, whose pretax U.S. profits totaled $160 billion over the three years, included Verizon. The report states the laws that allow this were not enacted in a vacuum, but rather were adopted in response to relentless corporate lobbying, threats and campaign support.A T-Mobile spokesman countered that the commitment level among T-Mobile executives remains “very strong.”

AT&T puts T-Mobile deal

“This is clearly not the fair and objective analysis to which any party is entitled, and which we have every right to expect,” Jim Cicconi, head of AT&T’s external affairs, said in a response posted Thursday morning on AT&T’s website.AT&T believes the FCC may have already made up its mind to oppose the merger before analyzing the facts, he suggested. “We believe that the utter absence of balance is clear, and demonstrates that the document lacks all credibility.”

AT&T and T-Mobile will have to submit a status report by Jan. 12, telling the court whether it intends to proceed with the current merger, pursue a revised deal, or drop the whole thing entirely.AT&T would get the assets it was looking for in the first place, T-Mobile would only have to handle marketing and customer support, and Deutsche Telekom would get the huge cash infusion it wants. In the ongoing battle of words, the FCC responded to AT&T’s allegations by calling its analysis unbiased and thorough.

It added that AT&T didn’t bring any new arguments to the table on Thursday.Though AT&T would own all of T-Mobile’s cell towers and spectrum, T-Mobile could sell its service independently and essentially pay rent to AT&T to use their infrastructure. AT&T also claimed that T-Mobile customers would be forever protected from price increases, because AT&T would agree to honor their current contracts for an unlimited time.

But the DOJ fired back. It told the court that its antitrust lawsuit against AT&T was unnecessary if AT&T was no longer applying for the merger. Judge Huvelle signaled her agreement, noting that if AT&T resubmitted its FCC, the whole antitrust proceeding might have to begin all over again. The FCC released the report even though, in a surprise move, AT&T said on Thanksgiving that it is no longer seeking the regulator’s approval for the merger.

Many analysts say they believe that AT&T’s withdrawal was in part an attempt to prevent the FCC from going public with its reasons for opposing the deal.AT&T and T-Mobile will have to submit a status report by Jan. 12, telling the court whether it intends to proceed with the current merger, pursue a revised deal, or drop the whole thing entirely.Though AT&T would own all of T-Mobile’s cell towers and spectrum, T-Mobile could sell its service independently and essentially pay rent to AT&T to use their infrastructure.

Kindle Fires are being returned to Amazon

Although it has been on the U. S. market for just three weeks, Amazon’s Kindle Fire is expected to become the second-most popular tablet in the world by the end of this year, according to the research firm IHS.There were 3,678 write-ups in all, nearly half of them (47%) glowing five-star reviews that basically said the same thing (Typical headline: “Outstanding value at $199″).But the device is not having a very good week.

To get a feel for what makes them unhappy — and how unhappy they are — we spent some time Saturday morning reading the Kindle Fire feedback on Amazon.com.There have been complaints on Amazon community forums by some Kindle Fire users who are experiencing problems accessing Wi-Fi networks and the Internet. All happy Kindle Fire customers, to paraphrase Tolstoy, are the same. Unhappy customers, however, are unhappy in their own way.

“Using the Web with the Silk browser is clunky and error-prone.On the older Kindles, it’s easy to keep a finger on the button when all you use it for is to turn the page. Reading downloaded magazines is not much better.” How do the iPad reviews compare? Amazon doesn’t promote the iPad like it does the Kindle, and it only sells it through third party vendors. But of the 475 iPad 2 reviews posted on Amazon.com, more than 60% gave it five stars and only 7.2% gave it one star.

A couple of disappointed customers had to return defective devices, but only one asked for his money back. He was upset because he couldn’t charge the device using USB port on his (old) Windows laptop. The Kindle Fire is inferior to Apple’s tablet, to be sure, but it’s much smaller and much cheaper — so that should be no surprise. Other Kindle Fire reviews have been much more positive, and I think the device will find a big audience of consumers willing to sacrifice some performance and size for the more attractive price.”

“The Fire is a heavy object. The lack of physical buttons for turning the page also impedes on the reading experience for fiction. It’s unpleasant to hold for extended periods of time. Unless you have forearm muscles like Popeye, you can’t comfortably sit and read an engaging novel all evening. In contrast, tapping an area of the screen disrupts reading enjoyment, is slightly error-prone, and leaves smudges on the screen. The Fire screen also has more glare than the traditional Kindle.”

T-Mobile:At&T

As long as AT&T has the dividend, it’s easy to forgive some of its other shortcomings. Did you see that dividend? So while not being able to buy T-Mobile would be a blow, it’s not significant enough to cause any questions about the safety of the dividend.Comcast (CMCSA, Fortune 500), DirecTV (DTV, Fortune 500) and other broadband video providers making life more difficult for the telecoms? Have I mentioned that Ma Bell pays a ginormous dividend?

Friday was the biggest sales day ever for the line of Kindle e-readers and tablets, with customers buying four times as many of the devices as they did last year, Amazon said. “In addition, we’re seeing a lot of customers buying multiple Kindles — one for themselves and others as gifts,” said Amazon vice president Dave Limp. “We expect this trend to continue on Cyber Monday and through the holiday shopping season.”But a stock that goes nowhere can still get you a 6% return thanks to the yield.

“Recent events have to make you take a fresh look at things. This is another hurdle,” said Joe Bonner, an analyst with Argus Research in New York. “But the dividend is very juicy and AT&T’s cash flow is not in any danger right now. You’d have to extrapolate far in the future before that happens.” No more Apple (AAPL, Fortune 500) iPhone exclusivity? Look at the dividend. Landline business continues to wither away? That’s not bad in any market, let alone one as rocky as this.

The Kindle Fire is smaller and less powerful than the iPad but, at $199, sells for $300 less than the most basic iPad 2.For existing AT&T shareholders, it’s no secret that the company is not an earnings momentum story. AT&T also trades at a discount to Verizon — which admittedly has better growth prospects. Ma Bell is currently at about 11 times 2012 earnings estimates while Verizon is valued at 14 times next year’s profit forecasts.

Analysts are forecasting annual profit growth of just 3% a year, on average, for the next few years. Online sales were up 39.3% on Thanksgiving Day and 24.3% on Black Friday compared to the same days last year, according to IBM’s Coremetrics, which tracks real-time data from 500 retailers. So there may be a (pardon the telecom pun) disconnect here — especially since the T-Mobile purchase was not a make-or-break deal for the company. AT&T still has more than 100 million wireless subscribers.

HP: Not a value trap?

You’d have to be toner-deaf to ignore some of the near-term risks facing HP. As Dell pointed out this week, demand for PCs is still sluggish. Plus, many tech companies are facing a supply shortage due to floods in Thailand disrupting production at disk drive makers like Western Digital.HP also is no longer a player in the lucrative mobile world, after shutting down the smartphone and tablet business it created just last year through its Palm acquisition.

“We need to be consistent; no more surprises,” said Meg Whitman, HP’s CEO, on a conference call with analysts. “We need to get back to the business fundamentals in fiscal 2012, including making prudent investments in the business and driving more consistent execution.”Shares of HP initially rose more than 1% in after-hours trading, as investors seemed to cheer the fact that HP may be finally offering a realistic outlook.

Analysts said that even if HP decides to stick with the decision to steer clear of the cutthroat mobile hardware world, the company needs to explain how it plans to be a player in mobile through software and services.”What is their strategy when it comes to mobile devices?” Fidacaro asked. “Whitman needs to tell investors that.”The stock eventually fell by as much as 3% as the company said the bad economy would negatively impact sales in 2012.

But Brian White, an analyst with Ticonderoga Securities in New York, thinks shareholders will give Whitman some time to develop a longer-term strategy. He thinks investors are more worried about the many short-term headwinds. Though Whitman repeatedly said she’s “really excited” about that acquisition, she said HP wouldn’t likely buy any companies that cost more than $500 million going forward.Instead, Whitman said the company would make a greater investment internally into its own research and development.

White said that contacts at technology companies in China and Taiwan are telling him that demand now is similar to where it was in October 2008. Unless you have amnesia, I shouldn’t have to tell you that isn’t good.To accomplish her goals of transparency and execution, Whitman said that the company would stop making big acquisitions like its $10 billion purchase of Autonomy in August.”We’re in software to bring value to customers not to transform HP into a software company.”

In August of 2006, Apple issued a statement saying that “microscopic metal particles” in its battery cells manufactured by Sony could lead to a short circuit, leading to potential overheating issues and even fires. It certainly sounds as if the first-generation iPod nano batteries are suffering the same fate, as they were manufactured and sold during the same time period as the laptop battery fiasco.Apple has rolled out a replacement program in order to address potential battery overheating issues.

This week in Apple news, we talked to security researcher Charlie Miller about a flaw within iOS that ultimately got him suspended from Apple’s developer program.Apple then issued an update to iOS 5 that fixed that bug in addition to a handful of others. We also covered a MagSafe connector settlement, Instagram clients for the desktop, GarageBand for iPhone, Apple’s new self-checkout system at its retail stores, and more.

Security researcher Charlie Miller has found a crack in iOS’s sandboxing foundation that could let any app run unsigned, unvetted code. His proof-of-concept app earned him a one-year suspension from Apple’s developer program, too.Two features that apparently never made it into the final release of iOS 5 have been discovered by developers, and users can even enable them with a bit of tinkering.

Apple’s continuing efforts to improve product efficiency and increase recycling have scored a few points with Greenpeace in the organization’s latest report. Ars takes a look at what Apple has done since the last report to get on Greenpeace’s good side. The company recommends that users stop using their first-gen iPod nanos sold between September 2005 and December 2006 and apply for a free replacement through its website.

The European Commission is looking into the patent disagreement between Samsung and Apple. Though the Commission didn’t explicitly comment on what it’s investigating, Apple’s filings in the US indicate it may be over Samsung’s strategy of suing over FRAND agreements.CBS CEO Les Moonves has revealed some new details about Apple’s TV content efforts during the network’s quarterly fiscal call. CBS walked away from the offer, but it’s still possible that Apple is working on delivering ad-supported content.

Apple delivers the unexpected pre-order sales record

Since the Apple confirmed that it will hold a press event on Oct. 4 at its Cupertino, Calif., headquarters. Expected to be the star attraction: The long-awaited iPhone 4s.It’s been 15 months since Apple’s iPhone 4 went on sale, making this lag between new models the longest since the iPhone debuted in 2007.Apple said Monday that it has sold more than 4 million iPhone 4S smartphones since its launch three days ago, setting a sales record for the device.

If there were a quote that best describes the nature of the earnings season so far, it would be, “The obvious rarely happens. The unexpected constantly occurs.”Apple is a prime example. Up until yesterday, the tech giant had an impeccable 10-year record of consecutive earnings surprises.Apple said it sold more than 17 million iPhones in the past quarter, falling short of the previous two quarters’ sales figures, as some consumers held out in anticipation of the new iPhone 4S.

Over the weekend, the company sold more than twice the 1.7 million iPhone 4s that it sold during last year’s opening weekend, though the numbers are a bit skewed: This year’s iPhone was simultaneously launched in the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom, while last year’s launch did not include Australia and Canada.

“IPhone 4S is off to a great start,” Philip Schiller, Apple’s head of marketing, said in a prepared statement. “IPhone 4S is a hit with customers around the world, and together with iOS 5 and iCloud, is the best iPhone ever.”The new iPhone appears physically the same as the iPhone 4, but the guts are improved: it features a new, faster processor called the A5, which debuted in the iPad 2.

Google extended its weekly gains to almost 15% after reporting another impressive quarter. The stronger-than-initially expected iPhone 4S sales are boosting a handful stocks. All of these will definitely boost the sales of iPhone 4S.The pre-order record fully prove the glamour of Apple iphone series throughout the world.
